The third International Ecological Forum "Nature Without Borders" is to take place in Vladivostok (Russia) from 12th to 13th November 2008. The organiser, Primorsky Region Administration, sets forth the activation of domestic and foreign resources for nature protection, creation of favorable ecological environment for the population, maximum possible interaction between governmental authorities, scientific and business communities and public organisations for the issues of environmental protection and nature conservation as the primary issues of the Forum.

Among the participants of the Forum are representatives of the Russian Presidential Administration and the department of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as organisations introducing cutting-edge technology of natural resources management, and Russian and international societies interested in nature protection and conservation.

ScanEx Centre will give a presentation on operational satellite-based monitoring to alleviate and prevent emergencies and ecological disasters in the Russian port areas, which is based on its pollution detection projects in the waters of the Okhotsk and the Black Sea. Results of these projects indicate that modern space technology was successfully implemented in Russia. ScanEx Centre delivers near real-time RS data products on oil pollution and navigation status in the Russian coastal waters of the Arctic, Far East, Caspian and Black Seas.

Space images have become a daily source of independent and up-to-date information for decision-making in different areas of human activities. Join the "Nature Without Borders" Ecological Forum to get more information about the application of satellite imagery in practice!
