The image of Ulyanovsk — administrative center of the Ulyanovsk region — was received on August 28, 2018 from WorldView-2 satellite.

The city was founded by the decree of Tsar Aleksey Mikhailovich in 1648 as a fortress of Sinbirsk, from 1780 to 1924 it was called Simbirsk, and after that it was renamed in memory of the native Vladimir Ulyanov (Lenin).

Ulyanovsk is a major transportation point, lying between central Russia and the Urals. The city is located on the banks of the Volga and Sviyaga rivers. The image shows the Imperial Bridge, which was built in 1913-1916. The total length of the bridge is 2080 m.

In 2018, Ulyanovsk took the 22nd place among Russian cities in terms of population: more than 626 thousand people live here.

One of the fragments of the image shows the inscription "LENIN", formed from a shrub of purple barberry. It is located next to the House-Museum of Lenin.
