The image of the Kurchatov city was received on August 18, 2018 from WorldView-2 satellite. 

Kurchatov is one of the most comfortable and beautiful cities of the Kursk region. It was founded in 1968 in connection with the construction of the Kursk nuclear power plant and named after the Soviet physicist, the "father" of the Soviet atomic bomb, Igor Kurchatov.

Kurchatov is located near the Seim River on the shore of the Kursk Reservoir (pond-cooler of the NPP), 40 km west of Kursk. The population of Kurchatov is more than 38 thousand people. One of the features of the city is the lack of private sector.
