Image of the Week

The image received on September 10, 2018 from GeoEye-1 satellite shows the north-western part of the territory of Timashevsky district (Krasnodar Region) and the steppe Kirpili River, which is bottled in this area, forming a chain of ponds and estuaries.

Hydronym "Kirpili" is translated from Turkic as "bridge" or "ferry". In the river basin, there are more than 300 barrier structures (dams, dams, etc.) that have turned the river into a cascade of ponds that are used for irrigation, watering and fishing. The length of the Kirpil River is 202 km.

Timashevsky district is located in the geographical center of the region, north of Krasnodar. This is an economically developed agro-industrial district of Kuban, in which there are 55 large enterprises, 16 of which are budget-forming, as well as more than 360 peasant farms.
